Waymo can’t possibly be worse or more dangerous than the worst 10% of human drivers.  Also, the sooner semi trucks are driverless the better.  Over the 40 years of my driving life semis have gone from a nuisance to an existential threat.

Mentioned it on here before, but I drive downtown streets every day.  Lots of Waymos on the road with me.  They are among the best drivers -- and even among the most courteous -- in downtown.

I’ve been completely shocked at how good they are. I much prefer them as a passenger to a human uber driver.

'bout to be waymo accidents, amirite?

Better they are hitting the freeways than pedestrians, like Elon's crap

Waymos should blink their driver side headlight at each other when they pass by, like a motorcycle salute or a jeep wave.

Without human drivers, people can just stick a dildo on the hood and voila DILDO CAR!

Are you implying that they have a soul?

More than the two consecutive drivers who turned out of the middle lane the other night on my way home.  Two blocks, two people who turned in front of me from the middle lane.  Soulless evil fuckers.  Waymo doesn't do me like that.

Sounds like you’re gonna need a products liability lawyer instead of an auto accident lawyer.

My kids will count them if they see more than a couple.  One time, within a 5-minute span, we saw 12 Waymos on Shoal Creek. Kind of surprised.

I don't know if I can trust a company whose CEO isn't constantly sending out cringy AI erotica for incels on the social media platform that he also owns.

If I had his money, I wouldn't be interacting with fucking incels of all people, and I would be generating my own erotica with real people.

I probably wouldn't be on social media either.

I hear ya.  "Sending out cringy AI erotica for incels on the social media platform that he also owns" is an absolute requirement for me.  That, of course, is why I am loyal to this platform and @immamac

Just today in my hood, a Waymo stopped to allow some pedestrians to cross the street. I thought what a polite robot.

Hate to break it to you, but Sixth Sense explains why they don't seem to see you.

Probably an unpopular take but I have yet to witness a Waymo car make a mistake or at the very least drive worse Than your average human. On the other hand, those SUVs driving around riverside/35 are gonna kill someone.  Cant recall the name.

out on my bike, I'll see dozens of them, and they are 100% more consistent than a soccer mom in a huge SUV just texting away. Which got me to thinking about how much shit the really obnoxious bikers will try and get away with once all cars on the road are autopilot. The cars have a 360 field of vision and software that errs on the side of caution rather than "fuck em, I have the right of way". Once they figure out the cars will never hit 'em....goddamn they might never stop at a stop sign again.

There's a glitch, though. They are way too considerate, and any car that wants to nudge in in front of them can. I got stuck behind one that let multiple cars force merge in front of them.

We will just have to legalize shooting the tires out of inconsiderate drivers.

Here's to an occasional glitch then.

Maybe like 1 out of 50 can have the RoboCop glitch and just swiss cheese any bicyclist that violates a traffic law.

Sure.  That’s a ploy to get your whole family in the car.

We were in a black cab in London a couple weeks ago and the cabby was confident that the cabs were a safe job for a while.  His theory was basically that the self driving cars are way too passive to work in London.  He was telling us this as he was (very) aggressively navigating his way through a nasty traffic jam, so it was compelling at the time.  Interesting to see that the code is being changed to address that.

Waymo is going to win the driverless car race.  They may not win the driverless semi race, but the race to be the company that owns/sells the most autonomous passenger vehicles is over, Waymo won.  Invest accordingly.

I like the experience and fully embrace its future.  My only complaint was my car needing to merge onto a busy street.  I sat for at least 20 minutes waiting.  I didn’t know what to do.  I called people to ask.  Horns blaring behind me.  A few cars behind us passed in on the shoulder to merge.    At one point I was going to get out and walk.   It was actually pretty stressful.  I’m sure they can tweak this and they need to.

My kids play "waymo whack" which is similar to the old punch bugs. So they basically just punch each other all car ride until they start screaming at each other and then I have to scream at them to stop. It's a fun game we play called "fight constantly".
