According to records from the Travis County Sheriff’s Office, Texas men’s basketball coach Chris Beard was arrested early Monday morning at 4:18 a.m. in Austin for “Assault on a family/household member.” He also apparently was preventing the victim from breathing. Beard was booked with a third degree felony.

Well that's not good.  Sounds like we may be looking for a new coach.

Nah he won't get fired for 1 offense with a top 10 team in the country.

He needs to be in therapy and get help for whatever issue caused him to get violent. Whether it's alcohol, anger management, maybe needs to get divorced, or whatever it is.

This just fucking sucks.

FYI in “Family member” in the charge description means “know” and not necessarily family. Of course it can also mean family.

I would assume the addition of "household" means that person lives at his house?  Or is that just boilerplate (ambiguous) language?

He's done.

Not only at Texas, but his career is over.

Oh yeah let’s do the thing where we give a pass to something we enthusiastically look down on OU or aggy for.

I’m all for a suspension in the short term as details come to light, but if the answer to “did he assault a family member, including strangulation?” is not 100% “no,” then he’s got to go.

Even if this was a situation where he lost his temper momentarily and struck someone, he should be fired.

This is strangulation. That is intent. This is not just a fireable offense, this man should never get a coaching job again. You cannot be a leader of young men with this kind of arrest.

The only circumstance that could possibly absolve him was that he was strangling someone who was threatening him and his family with a weapon. Unless that’s the case, Beard needs some serious help and needs to be out of basketball permanently.

At a home? Not his home? Does he even live in Tarrytown?

Let the facts play out. It could be he found out a family member was molesting his daughter or had in the past and went off. May not even be his wife. We'll see what happens

Lol lol lol

This place is overreaction central. We don't know any facts of the case and this jabroni is saying his career is over.

Aren't a lot of you lawyers? Shit I'd hate to be your client if you act like this.

Shut the fuck up. He’s not going to be coaching here charged with a felony assault. He won’t be coaching anywhere
