Uh.....you need to go back and read this....awesomely cool

How'd your mom and son like the game....their thoughts....summarized!  I'm betting they had a blast as well.

Tl;dr, but holy fuck you are significantly less girthy. Even more so than the last time I made this comment earlier this year. Proud of you for making those changes; dropping that much weight doesn’t happen by accident (unless you have the aids). Good job little guy

I took them both to the fair last year and we stayed outside the stadium - Gunnar was too young to appreciate being inside or remembering anything, but he had a blast that was my Mom's first experience at the fair during the game and she was like this is so much different than just coming to the fair.

This year my Mom told me "That was the most incredible sports thing I've ever been to in my life" and Gunnar was so excited the game and all of the fans being into it really hits so much different. So far his list of games he's attended in order of attendance:

1) Texas @ Michigan where we sat in our own season ticket seats.

2) Clemson @ Texas where Texas laid a beatdown for the first playoff game ever in DKR with our good friends  @txpete99 and his wife.

3) Home Season Opener SJSU @ Texas before the vibes were off

4) Cotton Bowl 2025

Great stuff @immamac

So glad you built such a fun trip with new wonderful memories with your son.

yes having the Buc-ees is great. Game changer for a fountain drink clean bathroom stop so you can bypass Waco. Which I never stop there,

I still always stop in West, Texas to get those Kolaches it is always worth it. Czech Stop or Gerik’s. I love kolaches and they also have cool shit in the bakery part of the store food product wise to buy.

I drank for about 18 consecutive hours, finishing with martinis with the milfs at the Anatole bar at about 1 a.m. Top 5 Texas/OU experience for me, going back to 1988.

Over the past two years I have really enjoyed the new annual tradition of watching the game from the fair then walking in during the fourth quarter and sitting in empty OU seats for the end of regulation and The Eyes. This time, as my buddy and I waded through the mass Sooner exodus, we joked about whether we should take that dejected family’s seats, or maybe sit where those angry frat bros had been. Lots of choices.

Once inside, one sooner guy was pretty upset about the game and decided to start talking shit. Buddy just yelled back to take the L and keep walking because we were gonna go take his seats now.

The Eyes were awesome, of course. We got to go to the tunnel to watch the players exit and yell nice things. Buddy got a huge smile out of PK for yelling at him that he’s the truth or something similar. Wife got a high five from Baker and McDonald.

This year was a top 3 RRS experience with 2018 and 2022.

ETA some pics in spoiler. They’re kinda shitty to avoid faces

I will say that you could feel our fan base was on edge pregame. OU chants were generally louder, though nobody that I interacted with on either side was overly confident. That punt return TD broke it all loose though and the celebrations matched.

A funny thing was that the area we were at in the fair had two big screens with a 15 second desync between them. We were in the middle so we could watch both. The left screen was the one that was behind and also the one with the rowdier crowd of mostly OU fans. So we watch the punt return on the right, go crazy jumping around with some other Texas fans, then get to turn around and watch it again on the left, complete with sad sooner reactions.

From there the day was just glorious.

You edited it.

I was about to post “Do what now?” Give me a few beers and I’ll love you, man, but I definitely did not sit with Chewbacca at the playoff game last year.
