Good.

Tornado alley is solidly Trump country.  When the leopard of mother nature eats some of their faces, without any of the warning that a functioning weather science system used to provide......that will be good for society as a whole.

They want people to suffer by a massive cessation of government services.  They think that everyone who benefits from government services is "welfare queens" (and we all know what color those welfare queens are).  Turns out, people who depend on weather warnings to survive are also "welfare queens."  Guess they should pull themselves up by their bootstraps and get their own radar and communications connectivity.  Fucking leeches.

Even though republicans control the government, I expect we'll hear a lot of "The deep state democrats aimed their weather gun at us to take us out."

Your interactions with this guy may need a dedicated thread like @Mitch Cumsteen’s wife. I suspect we all have a family member that hates Dale Earnhardt and therefore, logically, Chevy.

The Ford vs. Chevy guys (and the weird Mopar people like me) were everywhere back in high school.  You don’t see them anymore.  We need to bring those guys back.

I’m sure he beat off into a cup and poured it in the front trunk of a Model S.

Elon Musk has declared war on the free world.  That sort of shit has happened before.  It should end the same way.

Get to rural school, and it gets real wild when you have to pick a truck and a tractor brand.

i'm skeptical of that pic. Not in the sense that its photoshopped, but more in the sense that I don't think those cops are actually protecting the Tesla dealership. I think there is a more innocuous reason for them all standing around like that.

Or at least I hope so.

If there was any doubt that Elmo is a completely self-interested prick:

Law firm Richards, Layton & Finger, a prominent Delaware corporate firm has introduced a bill to eliminate shareholder protections against ridiculous executive compensation packages.

Delaware, in the corporate race to the bottom, is expected to pass it.

I hope you are right. Wonder if they’ll be back tomorrow, when news of today’s market bellyflop sinks in to the general population.

Law firms introduce bills to the legislature in Delaware?

Basic approach to handling efficiencies in business, government, etc. involves FIRST asking MANY questions:

  • What is the charter?
  • What do you deliver?
  • Is it being done effectively?
    • If not, what can be done to make it effective?
    • What are the daily, weekly, etc. impediments to effectiveness?
    • How can we get to the desired output meeting the key objectives?
  • Once we address effectiveness, let's address efficiency.
    • What is needed to increase output?
    • What inputs can we adjust/reduce to get the same output.

Efficiency is a ratio - mostly of output produced over input required to produce it.

Elmo is addressing this from 1 dimension - reducing input.  And he and his minions are doing it before actually understanding the problems and getting inputs from the main stakeholders.

Is it like national signing day when the uncommitteds and unsigneds are either hamming it up for the cameras, or panicking that they went with the wrong brand?

I'm in a rural area and had viasat for a year or so before I could get starlink. Viasat has horrible ping so doing video calls was basically impossible. Plus it wasn't unlimited data. Starlink is so much better and cheaper. But they are laying fiber down our road right now, so I'll be switching to that as soon as possible.

When did you have Viasat?

Teams calls are OK and it gives me an excuse to turn off my video (which I prefer for calls which could have easily been a conference call before Covid).

I need to upgrade my equipment to get Viasat’s unlimited plan which I will do before football season as I use more data watching football games during hunting season.

Try the Verizon fixed wireless home internet. I tested it out a couple of months ago when I upgraded my phone. Obviously living in urban Austin, I was getting 5G speeds consistently, but I used for a month and it was stable.

I ended up not keeping it only because my Spectrum service was the same price ($45) and usually around 500MB. But Spectrum just raised my price to $75 with no warning so I'm tempted to sign up again. First I'll see if I can get Spectrum to work a deal, because I like using my Verizon cell hotspot feature as a backup in case my home internet goes down.  If my home and cell internet are both Verizon, I have no backup.

Well, shit.  It's not available in my area for some reason.

do you know how difficult it is for someone to stand next to Donald Trump and make Donald Trump's menswear appear better-fitting in comparison?

Delaware might as well abolish the business judgment rule. Short-sighted doesn't even begin to describe it.

Meh.... I am torn because on the one hand, DE has an activist judge that is basically making it an impossibility for companies to have disinterested board members without having to prove it all the way up to the DE supreme court.  And other cases like the Moelis case that had to be fixed by statute are completely off the rails.  The recent proposed changes to 144 in Delaware are probably an overcorrection, but at least they provide some clarity.

On the other hand, fuck Elon.
