Are you confused about posters? Wulaw doesn't post in CR AFAIK and the sponsorship is paid.

Im not. I just really want to start a boycott.

Not too worried about it, comes with being an active poster.

I'm not gonna speak for Wulaw, but I do know he's not in CR much if at all these days and he's definitely not openly rooting for anything like stassney is saying.

If it was obvious that he was supporting things antithetical to the spirit of surly we would stop the sponsorship. I need some help understanding that though if it's the case.

Yeah, wasn’t endorsing or agreeing with Stassney. I put him on ignore ever since he went off the rails and became a loon. Was just adding some background that wulaw was a regular CR poster a number of years ago. Haven’t seen him post here in a long time which, as I mentioned, is probably good for his business because his hot takes made him look like a moron.

does anyone have a faq on how to post in dt without causing a ruckus?

You’re going to make at least one of them cry no matter what so it’s a futile effort. Just ask the questions

Just don't threadshit with Politics only, leave any spin or opinion on the political side out of it you can put any opinion on the economic/news/business side of it.

Placing the blame correctly on Kamala’s defeat does not make one a loon.

Cool. He is a Trump supporter and that inherently makes him a bad person as a result of that. Can we start it today?

We are throwing the most advanced health science research system into the sea and have turned over our public health infrastructure to quacks and crooks. We are destroying our prosperity to sate the president’s desire to play at 19th century political economy. We are blithely ignoring the potential for war with former allies as Trump crows about annexing Canada and Greenland.

We must be as frank as possible about the challenges before us and willing to call things as we see them, no matter what our opponents or even our own allies might say. We have to stare at the abyss and dare it to stare back. We can be realistic about how dark things have gotten and retain the hope necessary to fight what could well be a long, even generational struggle to reclaim American democracy.

Dude I'm not sure what you are talking about. Do you have any proof whatsoever?

Rick Reilly wrote a whole book about this.  Its all of it, is the answer.  My favorite anecdote is when he didn’t play in the first round but announced he had shot a great round at another course earlier that week and used that score.

But yeah, he kicks balls, his caddy will throw other players’ balls in hazards, he will give himself mulligans, etc.

Generations worth of work.
And we’ll never restore it all. Once the empire is lost, it’s lost. Ask Great Britain.

Pick up 8 foot putts. And I could be mistaken, but my recollection was he just showed up at one of his courses on the day after a tourney or something and asked what the winner shot. He was told the guy’s score and then said he shot better last week and made them change the plaque to put him as the winner. He didn’t even play in the tournament.

Yeah.  I’m hoping that he had an epiphany.   He was very much on team “ pull yourself up by your own bootstraps you lazy slackers who deserve your life situation” in discussing social issues.

Then, after a lifetime of stuffing his face with high calorie food and being a fatty, he started a thread that said “it’s not because I stuffed my face with high calorie crap food and don’t exercise that made me a fatty - the doctor said it’s not my fault.”

All the poor less successful people raised in dysfunctional families by poorly educated parents in poor neighborhoods, eating unhealthy foods and receiving crappy education in inferior schools might - just might - not be as successful as Wulaw because they did not have his advantages in life….and there was no surgery to correct that list of life challenges.

To be clear, I absolutely supported Wulaw in his journey to new health status, and in no way are saying that the reasons why he had weight challenges are not absolutely accurate.  I’m just hoping that he can see how his situation could translate to other people’s different situations, and have the same understanding why some people may have a problem succeeding that is not due to their character flaws.

Social security administration in a "death spiral."

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/apr/06/musk-doge-social-security

Office closures, staffing and service cuts, and policy changes at the Social Security Administration (SSA) have caused “complete, utter chaos” and are threatening to send the agency into a “death spiral”, according to workers at the agency.

The SSA operates the largest government program in the US, administering social insurance programs, including retirement, disability and survivor benefits.

An average of almost 69 million Americans per month will receive a social security benefit in 2025, totaling about $1.6tn in benefits paid during the year and accounting for 22% of the federal budget. While expensive and challenged by an ageing population, social security remains overwhelmingly popular with Americans. But the agency has been dubbed a “Ponzi scheme” by Elon Musk, the billionaire whose so-called “department of government efficiency” (Doge) is currently slashing its staff and budgets.

Elon Musk has a net worth that is about 25% of the annual budget of a program that 69,000,000 Americans depend on for food and shelter. It is a criminal amount of wealth and he’s the one in charge of slashing vital programs that people he deems to be parasites depend on.
