What did the Biden win mean to you?

I'm an unapologetic conservative never Trumper.  To me, a huge cloud has been removed from this country and I hope we will work together and heal this country.  This country needs it.  It's been a long and destructive 4 years.  We need someone to unite us as 1.  Maybe it won't be Joe, but I knew it couldn't be Donald and his current actions and behavior proves me right.

We held fascism at bay. There’s more to do. MUCH more. This bought us four years.

Before the election, I was figuring out how to move my family abroad. Now I’m considering a career move into something new where I can meaningfully contribute to the fight against fascist bullshit. I have no idea what that would be yet. But I’m inspired to do something.

I would like to hear more from the people who aren't cheering.

There have always been two sides to this country.

I'm glad the leadership rhetoric will be less vitriolic and divisive, but I am concerned that it is now known to be acceptable.

Time for change.

End of the nonsense from our highest executive in the land.

Hoping it’s not just a charade for Harris to take office.  Out of anyone’s control, really.  That’s a liability, though, IMHO.

Best of luck to the Honorable Mr Biden.

Orange Voldemort is done.

Most of my friends are relieved, especially the females.

We won't be the international shit stain that we've been the last 4 years.

I still want to leave the country, but that's just because this place kind of sucks and freedoms are limited.

yeah, that shit ain't going anywhere sadly. the disconnect in the modern American brain is real.

I did move, not sure if I will stay here, but holy hell do some here want to be as dumb as Americans.

The internet is really fucking amazing and at the same killing our ability to communicate. I can only imagine what stupid shit will be around in 4 years time. hopefully we all will be. Keep them nukes down brothers

It means my country isn't dying after all.  At least not yet.

I have no doubt that if Donald Trump had gotten four more years, the America I grew up in would be gone forever.

I'm glad to see this nation get a second chance at being what it can be, instead of devolving into something unsalvageable.

I don't know how this ends, but I feel like we just had another quarter or two added to the game clock.

I can see, for the first time, a light at the end of the covid tunnel. It may still be far in the distance, but having adults in the room that will actually listen to science and doctors and at least try to get us out of mess means my wife and I at least have a chance of life returning to "normal".

This gives me hope that even if America is in decline, we at least have a chance to plateau or ever reverse the trend. It makes me so elated because democracy works even when it’s under extreme attack by someone who thinks the democracy is there to serve himself. It makes me sad that it took a president like Trump to make me realize how fragile our democracy really is. It makes me elated to see this fucktard whine like a bitch and confirm he is the loser we all know he is.

I'm really struggling to put it into words, which is odds for me. I just feel this huge sense of relief. My everyday life never changed, and my IRA even grew greatly, but there was a sense of dread that hung over everything.  That is now gone. The worst in or society had permission to come out of the shadows and were legitimized. It feels like humanity and decency has been restored.

In the end, I don’t think it means much. Biden certainly has a better Presidential decorum than Trump does. But, Trump will be tweeting non-stop and rallying his supporters. So I don’t think we’re close to revitalizing our image as a country. I’m worried about our Middle East policy and my retirement as the stock market will surely take a dip. This elections shows how divided the country still is. Hopefully we can start unifying, but that’s probably a pipe dream. We’re too far gone.

To me, it means that the POTUS cares and is concerned about the welfare, safety and security of the United Ststes of America and not his bottom line.  That when he speaks, it's about us and not him.   That decisions are made with thoughtfulness and deliberation not petulance.

This win showed me that the United States is ALMOST a giant version of Alabama.  Alabama had a pedophile run for Senate and barely elected Doug Jones over him.  America as a whole is similar in that we barely elected Biden over a total piece of shit.  That saddens me.  What makes me hopeful is that maybe Biden can get some stuff accomplished in moving this country in a better direction.  Who am I kidding?  The Senate will not allow anything meaningful to happen under the Turtle and the millions that voted for Trump are already believing that the election was totally fraudulent and stolen from de fuhrer.  I want the DOJ to somehow, someway go hard after Fox News, OAN, Alex Jones, and all the right wing radio voices and figure out a way to stop their spread of hate and lies that truly are destroying this country.

I feel like I can breath again. I feel like we have someone who cares again about others and not so self centered and egotistical. I feel like we’ll have someone that will pick a support staff that will be qualified and not based on the size of their checkbook. A huge relief. I just pray that Mitch McConnell helps and works with Joe and doesn’t continue being the worst example of a human possible. That’s what worries me most.

If he tweets with the same rhetoric he does now, he'll likely spend most of his time banned. His protections end on Jan 21.

What part of Middle East policy are you worried about?  The stock market generally takes a giant crap at the end of a republican administration.  Check the charts.

I feel relieved, but exhausted. The last four years have really dominated my psyche. I can relate to whomever it was who said that enjoying college football has been hard these past few years. My kids are turning 2 and 5 soon. Years from now, I want to be able to reflect on this time as being about them growing up and me as a new father, and not think about the state of this country.

I'm pissed about the utter failure down-ballot, mostly because I believe climate change is the real deal and we won't get shit done about it the next 2 years, at least.

I guess I should be feeling better. Time to find a replay of Joe's victory speech.

During the Obama years while I knew there was still racism, I didn't realize the vastness of it. Then along came Donald Trump.

What did this moment mean to you?

This part sums it up for me as well. The blatant racism from the base wasn't even the worst part. It's the people  I expected to be better than that that really disappointed me. Unlike the MAGA flagbearers, they're not morons so they don't show it in the same way, but it doesn't change the fact that I'm more of an outsider than I realized.

In general, this win means I'll be  able to tune out politics a little more because the guy in charge isn't a lying crooked POS, cares about the job, and isn't looking to exploit the office for his own personal gain at all times.

Somebody who will finally take responsibility. It's been a beating everyday hearing somebody blame everybody else for all of their ignorance and plague while telling the public how brilliant they are.  And DOTARDS merry band of homicidal flunkies can now begin their shitty lives off the taxpayer dime.  I'm trying to remember what it's like to have a qualified cabinet and department heads.  Kushner and Ivanka should be arrested along with Stephen Miller,  Pompeo can kick rocks at Fox swallowing dicks, and Mitch, your wife has been fired. The whole lot of them should have their passports revoked and answer to federal investigators.

And with all of this, we still have 2 more months of asshat and his freeloading family and staffers.  Trump showed us the way though in that nothing he did can't be erased through executive order.

It's only "barely" because of the electoral college. He's going to win the popular vote by over 5 million votes. That's pretty huge.

Obviously, it would have been awesome to see America take a break from partisan politics to vote solely for decency at a 90%/10% clip, but that's a pipe dream with the "liberals are evil socialists" messenging from the networks you mentioned and social media.

Trump sadly showed us who we are. He's the embodiment of every terrible quality Americans have. The hatred, greed, envy, and need for compliance/homogeny. The "I'm getting mine and don't care about you". He's a relic of what America was. That's why he appeals to so many. He appeals to those who are afraid their America is slipping away. Biden and Harris show us who we could be. Maybe that's naive idealism but I miss having a President that inspired people to do or be something positive.

Hopefully a return to something closer to center than Trump’s version of conservatism, to rational, thoughtful, and dignified leadership, and  to have an administration focused on including the concerns of all Americans and not just the card-carrying party line voters. And for my teenage daughter, a remarkable young woman of color, for her to have representation in the level of executive power.

That's a good point--maybe Biden can fire Ajit Pac from the FCC as well.

This is going to be interesting to see. I also think trump is going to have the stain of being a one-term president. Not a lot of people are going to be passionate for a loser.

One term president that was impeached.  That's amazing.  He was doing illegal acts before he ever took office.  The porn star payment should have made him ineligible but Republicans and the Senate didn't seem to care.  And now, in the last week, more than any other time, he appears absolutely unfit but Republicans still don't care.

To me it brings the hope that American belief and regard for democracy may re-emerge.  Hopefully, our presidential leadership will reassure citizens that democracy not only works but actually makes us a more perfect union.  This election also demonstrates that too many people still would rather have their selfish agendas met above all else.  Too many Americans turn their collective backs when democracy is trampled on by supporting voting policies and procedures that limit voting only to those who agree with a narrow political agenda.  It is time for our citizens to value the worth of every individual vote, regardless of where it is made, as an affirmation of strength not weakness.  As a nation, we have never lived up to this basic premise of democratic rule.  My hope is that this prolonged election but with record voting numbers will lead to individual faith that increased responsible voting promotes better government.

It means not worrying about gross incompetence posing as small government policy.

It means not worrying about who the Secretary of Interior is, and how they will be fleecing ther American taxpayer.

I'm not naive enough to believe these will not exist in a Biden White House, but I'm hopeful enough to believe they won't be encouraged.

I’m writing this on my phone on a rainy balcony in New Orleans. I’ve been wrecked with anxiety for the past few days. I kind of knew Biden would win, even as the results trailed in on election night, when so many had given up hope.

I was despondent for a bit the next day, still thinking that Biden would win, but seeing that so many Americans found it fitting to re-elect a game show host as president.

I didn’t watch tv or log into the internet for the for the following two days. It was cathartic. I got to experience what most people do by being disconnected and only worrying about the world they can affect.

On Friday, I logged back in and started my worry cycle again. I was surprised at how fast it came back. I was ashamed that something like politics had taken over my well being. But it was there. A churning in my stomach, usually reserved for a morning after a long night of drinking, that couldn’t be resolved. Why did I feel so horrid?  Something gnawing at my soul so hard.

Today. Biden declared victor. It wasn’t unexpected. But the ultimate sigh of relief uttered by my soul (?) was a welcomed and unexpected relief.

I don’t know what any of it means, but I damn sure know it makes me feel better about the human condition. Seeing the WORLD celebrate this means we must be doing something right.

My father in law who reluctantly voted for Biden has already gone back into his “taxes are the devil” mindset and wondering what it holds for him is freaking out. I’m trying to assure him, all will be well.

I hope one day soon he sees there is nothing to fear. I hope to see him and all his brethren see that they won’t be destroyed by an imaginary enemy. I hope to see them utilize their remaining days for good. I hope.

To me it means a couple of things. (1) I'm able to right a wrong. As someone who voted for Trump in 2016 it has eaten away at me for the last three years. It was the eye opener I needed to make my own change. Voting in the Democrat primary for the first time ever and voting straight ticket Democrat party in early voting was cathartic for me. (2) It reinforces my belief that there is a ton of good in America that can rise to a challenge and persevere. (3) It means hope for my kids and the future of this country. The fights not done, but we've got some great members in our ranks to carry us through.

Powerful. Thanks for sharing.
