Rick Reilly wrote a whole book about this.  Its all of it, is the answer.  My favorite anecdote is when he didn’t play in the first round but announced he had shot a great round at another course earlier that week and used that score.

But yeah, he kicks balls, his caddy will throw other players’ balls in hazards, he will give himself mulligans, etc.

Pick up 8 foot putts. And I could be mistaken, but my recollection was he just showed up at one of his courses on the day after a tourney or something and asked what the winner shot. He was told the guy’s score and then said he shot better last week and made them change the plaque to put him as the winner. He didn’t even play in the tournament.

Haven’t seen him post here in a long time which, as I mentioned, is probably good for his business because his hot takes made him look like a moron.

Yeah.  I’m hoping that he had an epiphany.   He was very much on team “ pull yourself up by your own bootstraps you lazy slackers who deserve your life situation” in discussing social issues.

Then, after a lifetime of stuffing his face with high calorie food and being a fatty, he started a thread that said “it’s not because I stuffed my face with high calorie crap food and don’t exercise that made me a fatty - the doctor said it’s not my fault.”

All the poor less successful people raised in dysfunctional families by poorly educated parents in poor neighborhoods, eating unhealthy foods and receiving crappy education in inferior schools might - just might - not be as successful as Wulaw because they did not have his advantages in life….and there was no surgery to correct that list of life challenges.

To be clear, I absolutely supported Wulaw in his journey to new health status, and in no way are saying that the reasons why he had weight challenges are not absolutely accurate.  I’m just hoping that he can see how his situation could translate to other people’s different situations, and have the same understanding why some people may have a problem succeeding that is not due to their character flaws.

Social security administration in a "death spiral."

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/apr/06/musk-doge-social-security

Office closures, staffing and service cuts, and policy changes at the Social Security Administration (SSA) have caused “complete, utter chaos” and are threatening to send the agency into a “death spiral”, according to workers at the agency.

The SSA operates the largest government program in the US, administering social insurance programs, including retirement, disability and survivor benefits.

An average of almost 69 million Americans per month will receive a social security benefit in 2025, totaling about $1.6tn in benefits paid during the year and accounting for 22% of the federal budget. While expensive and challenged by an ageing population, social security remains overwhelmingly popular with Americans. But the agency has been dubbed a “Ponzi scheme” by Elon Musk, the billionaire whose so-called “department of government efficiency” (Doge) is currently slashing its staff and budgets.

Elon Musk has a net worth that is about 25% of the annual budget of a program that 69,000,000 Americans depend on for food and shelter. It is a criminal amount of wealth and he’s the one in charge of slashing vital programs that people he deems to be parasites depend on.

He should have ill feelings towards the citizens. They voted for this.

What is a financial deficit? Does he mean a trade deficit? We are richer than China in every metric imaginable, but I guess we need them to buy our products more for some reason?

Yep. I think the money is better spent supporting organizations that help the victims of the administration. Gay advocacy, legal support for persons of color being rounded up indescriminately, food programs, and the like.

I don't want to starve the Dems, but they are not best instrument in this struggle at least so far. Public outcry may alleve some of their fears of losing their seats. So many Dems are so timid.

Crockett, AOC, Booker and a few others are out front. I will say, to state the obvious, that there is no John Lewis right now. Someone is going to have to be the new face of Bloody Sunday 2 in order to really get the public mobilized. Otherwise te protests will wind up being performative art and I don’t want to see that be the outcome from this.

Let's call it what it is, a tax hike on Americans that doesn't require Congressional approval. (although they could stop it)

Deficit or surplus?  Because he uses both.  Guy doesn't know shit from shinola and thinks any "deficit" is bad.

The nationwide protests are building, but they really need to be outside Mar-a-Lago and his golf courses on Saturdays and Sundays.

Trump is pretty isolated from the world.  He's in the White House most of Mon-Fri, then flys to Florida for weekend golf every Sat-Sun.  His world is what he sees out of the Oval Office, the view from a helicopter, a Big Mac and Filet-o-Fish served onboard a 747, a limo ride, the patio at Mar-a-Lago, and weekends behind a golf cart.  That's it.

He's surrounded by yes-men and young blondes who love every suggestion he has.

He needs to see the protests for them to be effective.

No. The goal isn't to change Trump's mind. That's not possible.

I know a few Warriors. Interesting. Few have tattoos, they are very well read, and have mundane hobbies. My favorite is a dude who lives next to Hadrian's wall and is a Gardner. Yep, the fucker is one of the meanest warriors out there.

These dicks think Meditations was written in Tibet. They are oxygen thieves.

It's popular to shit on Hofstadter these days, but some of his work should be more popular.
