the trump election lawsuit thread of dominance

As far as I can tell, due to rampant disinformation and intentional ignorance of the election process, MAGA faithful are convinced that the following is feasible:

All it takes is one member of the House and one Senator to object to a state's electors, and then Pence can reject electors from states whose results are disputed, thus preventing any candidate from receiving the necessary 270 EV, meaning the presidential election gets thrown to the House in a "1 vote per state" election. Given that more states have a GOP majority than a DEM majority, Trump would win such a vote.

This ignores several important steps, mainly that Pence's role as VP/President of Senate is limited to verifying that an objection to a state's electors has been properly lodged (i..e submitted in writing by a member of both chambers.) At that point, each chamber adjourns for a maximum 2 hour debate regarding the acceptance or rejection of the objection. Then each chamber votes on whether to sustain or dismiss the objection. This vote is among the full membership, not "1 per state." Both House and Senate have to vote to sustain an objection in order to set aside the electors. Odds of that happening with a DEM house and narrow GOP Senate are 0.0%.

Does the threshold get lower each time you throw out a set of electors. You need 50% + 1 to win (270). I guess it would go to SCOTUS to determine if you have to hit 270 or just 50% + 1 if you throw any out.

it amounts to nothing bc not one single Dem will vote to throw out a set of electors in a challenge. McConnell may lean on his caucus to let it go. He hates asking his team to take tough votes on record.

Apparently the Uncle Sam moron isn’t an actual Alabama elector but a fucking actor hired by the Alabama GOP to bring some pizzazz to what should be a boring and routine procedure.

I’ve been searching to see if I can find out who he is because he deserves to be shamed for agreeing to participate in this clownshow.

Cut him some slack, the restaurant where he works his real job laid him off because of China virus.

I hope some rich man like George Soros gives Smartmatic a bunch of money to go after each of those outlets and make the say, on air, that they lied.

I also can't wait until Trump turns on Republicans for not doing enough to save him. The next few months, with Trump going off on Twitter, are going to be glorious. I doubt Biden will get much attention from him, actually. I think it's going to be the Republicans because they were in a position to do something and didn't, at least according to Trump.

Also, watch Barr turn on him will be fantastic.

I know there was a lot that happened in 2000, and ain't getting into that here.

But I've always been impressed with the way Vice President Gore handled his responsibilities, even in the face of those seeking to support him and dissuade the process.

And that was the man who lost, who had people who would have supported him should he wish to push back against the decision that he himself was required to speak into existence.

I have a really difficult time imagining the current Vice President responding in a similar fashion. I'm open to being surprised, however.

Trump gets angry at his opponents.

But he also gets really angry at those who he thinks should have his back, but don't.   He is all but trying to sabotage Georgia, and Kemp and the others' chances when they are up for reelection.  If you told him that he could 100% destroy Kemp and the other Republicans, but that the Senate seats would flip to Dems, I think he would take that deal, since those Senators can't do shit for him when he's out of office, but he would get the last laugh at Kemp losing.

The man behaves like a Stalinist but he doesn’t have the entire system captured like Stalin.  That’s his instinct.

The paranoia.  The demand for unconditional loyalty. The requirements to not only indulge, but share in his fantasies. The denunciations for imagined offenses. Deep state= Trotskyites.

Look at Jeff Sessions, who was an early adopter of Trumpism.  He didn’t go all the way and so not only was he a bad AG, he was dumb, an agent of the deep state, etc.

It astonishes me that educated, somewhat intelligent people with professional success outside of the grift, e.g. Wood and Powell, can turn into raving and ranting lunatics in 4-5 years.

A good deal of Trumpism among the semi-intelligent is explained easily by political cynicism (holding to power by any means necessary, SoCIaLIsM!, etc.), but this is inexplicable.

These people are too late to receive any political power or advantage, and that's not their sphere, anyway.  Maybe they're angling to become the next Judge Jeannine on TTV.

i think it is more about how transactional everyone is. everyone is willing to get into bed with whoever if it gives them a temporary boost.  they weren't friends back then, now surprised that one turned on the other. they just saw benefit in allying.

Can you imagine what a headache he must be for Kayleigh and the rest of his babysitters?  Good lord.

I fully believe he did not stop reading.   He would love for those “Republicans” to be in jail.
