A positive GDP of any kind will blunt the MAGA driven “recession” talk. Dems definitely need it to be positive and not negative for a 3rd time in a row. What was the Atlanta fee prediction for Q2 and how close was it?

it was negative and iirc always came in lower than it was (second estimate by BEA was -.6%)

She should have been talking about them daily and pointing to all of the events they did, fuck the “fuck their feelings” crowd and go after them, they will just cry more, show what they really are

The world wasn't ready for that level of honesty. She was politically brave to say what she did. She was right. She's actually not a bad person.

She's bold. Back when she and Bill appeared on 60 Minutes when he was running the first time, the reporter (Croft? Kraft?) just kept hammering away at the infidelity angle. The Clintons kept responding that there were imperfections and mistakes in their marriage, but the reporter wanted a more definitive statement. He said some voters might not vote for a person with this shadow hanging over his head.

"We admit our marriage hasn't been perfect. If someone can't vote for that, they should vote for somebody else."

It was my first time seeing her. I was impressed.

In this case, she was the first to say the dangerous part out loud. Deplorables who care only about religion and their guns. The electorate gasped. Now, they see.

The timing would be great.  It looks like early Q2 estimates first came out in late July, which would imply late October for Q3 data -- about 10 days before the mid-term elections.

impressions now are more important.  feelings get baked in and the last few weeks before the election are about justifying what you already think, not changing.

I saw the timing of the speech as pretty good.

You have a bunch of mindless magats advocating violence against the FBI.  But you also have a lot of right wing media, pundits, and even politicians not knowing whether to shit or go blind in the face of Trump with a shitload of national security information unsecured at his fucking club.

I think the "witch hunt" narrative, which was actually pretty effective for the unengaged ("I don't know what's going on, but they sure seem to be picking on Donald Trump") types, is wearing very thin.

I'm reasonably sure it was a good time to "strike."

Same. I'm embarrassed by the country and world we're leaving for my kids. I think that my kids would prefer a world that isn't on fire, elections that are still Democratic, a country that treats those who are different with dignity and compassion, mass shootings aren't a daily occurrence, and the ability to make their own choices should they get pregnant over a couple extra grand in their inheritance when I take a dirt nap.

You sound like a commie libtard who hates America -- cry more!!!!

Seriously.  That the simple things that you stated are not just opposed, but actively HATED, by the entire GQP....that's fucked.

I am trying to understand the logic behind Biden’s speech last night.  Of course everything he said was true, but it seems to me the speech will do more to rally Trumpists than unite the rest of the country.  Unless he has intel that Trumpists are planning to even more aggressively subvert the November elections or engage in open civil war, it doesn’t make sense.  The Dems have all them momentum, so it’s really unlikely to be politically expedient.  And if he does have information that we are heading toward civil war, those details should have been released prior to or during the speech.

This.  This was the point.  We are at war.  Not of our making, not of our choosing, but when an enemy masses, and attacks you repeatedly with the stated intent of destroying you, you are at war whether you wanted to be or not.  So....you best fucking fight back.

And focusing on the enemy, isolating them and massing them together, at once making them an unattractive group for others to align with as well as making it easier to target your fire and destroy them, is a smart tactic.

MAGAs are the enemy of the Republic and any ideals of decent and functional humanity.  If you are even thinking of aligning with them, you should be shamed, shunned, and punished.  And if you are one of them....you should be shoved back into a hole that should then be sealed and entombed in concrete forever.  We can't literally eliminate them (that's what they want, but if we're going to retain our humanity, we have to play by some rules of law), but we should shove them back into the hole they crawled out of.  Feel free to be an ignorant, anti-human, racist piece of shit at the end of your dirt road in your broken down trailer.  And do what you did before -- mostly keep your opinions to yourself, don't vote, and just live out your pitiful existence.  And, in spite of the fact that you don't deserve it, continue to have society provide you and yours opportunity to crawl out of that hole and actually contribute, if any of you ever gains the wits to take advantage of that opportunity.

No mercy.  No kindness.  They have pledged to destroy my country.  They are no different than Al Qaeda, and they deserve similar amounts of mercy.

No secret I've not been the biggest Biden fan through out his political career (from a lefty pov).  Watched the whole speech this morning.  That was a great speech, period.  Like some others, I thought at best he would be a caretaker President.    Instead these past few months have shown him and those around him rising to the occaision.

Y’all have been bitching for YEARS that Democrats are “too soft” and “bringing a knife to a gun fight” and letting the Republicans control the narrative.

This.  Fuck their feelings.  You can't win them over.  You should not surrender to fascism.   The histrionic overreactions I'm seeing posted online from Fox and their conservative familiars just proves you landed a good punch.  Keep it up.

The “left wing media” whined it was “too political” as if 2017-2021 didn’t redefine what that means. Also the president gave a political speech? NO WAY

Trump ties his shoes and didn’t vomit on the Japanese PM - this is the day Trump became president

Biden gives a speech in favor of democracy and against fascism - woah that’s too political, sir

Biden quite clearly singled out MAGA R's and tried to include 'mainstream Republicans.'  Now, you and I know there's not much difference these days.  But publicly he was only calling out those who called insurrectionists patriots.  He also made clear that political violence has no place in this country.  What a divisive statement.

As well, compare how he handled the heckling to Trump asking folks to beat up hecklers.   Who is divisive again?

1) Trumpkins have never shown any ability to show up at the polls when Donald Trump himself is not on the ballot.  You think they're going to start now because of a fucking speech in early September?

Get the fuck out of here with that nonsense hand-wringing.

2) I guarantee you that this is a message that has been poll-tested and focus-grouped ad infinitim.  It works.  And it's a message that works across districts.  It doesn't matter if you're in the bluest blue district in Brooklyn or in a purple district--you can run on this message.  So the Democrats are going to have a unified, coherent message that can be tweaked to suit the individual district, but that has been poll-tested for appeal.

Compare that with the GQP right now.  What the fuck is its message?

Just anecdotally, but I've heard stories of people phonebanking/canvassing and there's a big chunk of "I only support Trump" voters who ain't showing up for anyone else.  We call these LOW INFORMATION VOTERS.

Also a personal anecdote, but the GOP attacks on people benefitting from student loan forgiveness has turned at least one hardcore millennial suburbanite republican I know.  She thinks it's pretty disgusting Ted Cruz calls them lazy baristas, as if STEM students don't have student debt and the worst of the debt is the people who graduated into the Great Recession and took shit jobs and couldn't pay them off.  And Republicans are destroying public ed funding, creating more loans.

As she put it in a text yesterday - "what the fuck are republicans doing and why are they trying to piss off people who usually vote for them?"

While it's true that the people who are against student loan forgiveness are almost uniformly Republican, the assumption that everyone who benefits is a Democrat is a very dangerous and potentially politically harmful conclusion for the Republicans to make.

I definitely agree it’s not 5x speed. Gun regulation proponents really should just sit down and be quiet.

bullet speed fuckery is just the 2022 version of the bullshit AR doesn’t stand for assault rifle argument from a few years back.

These are people who chant "Keep Socialism Away From My Medicare." The reddest states take more from federal taxes then they pay. These are people who claim they are totally self sufficient and it's the "others" who are lazy freeloaders. You really think they're capable of basic understanding?

Like these people care, anything that helps average Americans is bad and it’s 1000x worse if a Democrat does it

I'd like Joe to come out today and say we gave Mississippi $420 million dollars for water infrastructure just so this kind of thing wouldnt happen to the fine Americans there. You'd have to ask Governor Reeves what he did with it  and why you don't have drinking water..

he should sign all the cases of water they’re deploying, kinda like how dotard signed the stimulus checks

Right wing Gun owners have had plenty of time to come up with changes and offer solutions and vote for people not beholden to the insane NRA. Too little, too late. They had their chance.

Listen to what the fuck Ron Johnson is saying up in Wisconsin.  He's saying that Medicare needs to be completely privatized (at a time when the stock market aint doing great) and that retirees need to get off their ass and go back to work to earn some spending money.

It's like the fucker is actually trying to lose.

I am the same, grew up hunting, and never saw a use for, and never had dreams of owning an assault rifle.  I think the general view of people that don't want gun control is that "if you give the government an inch, they will take a mile" so don't give them anything...That is not how I think.

As far as school shootings, if parents were doing their jobs then these kids, most of them, would not have access to the guns unsupervised.  I keep all of my guns in a safe, and the key is hidden away.  My kids know the only time the guns come out of the safe is when we are going to target shoot or hunting.  Otherwise, they don't leave the safe. It was the same with my parents.

However, since we live in the world we live in and there are irresponsible people in the world, I do believe we need better gun control laws, I just want the laws to be reasonable unlike some red flag laws I've heard of where a neighbor or a mad ex or whoever can say you threatened them somehow and then you have your guns taken away until you prove otherwise.  I think laws like that are unreasonable.

Literally everything about this post is stupid.

It's pretty different I think. It's supporters taking something back and supporting their guy. The "FJB" and "LGB" is mocking the "other" and never about supporting their own. It's the lowest common denominator for pea brained morons. Just look at the ones here, they avoid the trump thread, but post their lame grade school shit here, because they are mush brained cowards.
