Lol.  It’s beneath him.  He only wants to be King.  He tried to make himself one last time.  And he will try again if he wins.  But the only way is through the Presidency.

It would place him “third in line to the Presidency behind Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.” He’d LOVE hearing that.

I guess nothing should surprise me anymore, but it’s crazy and more than a little disheartening that McCarthy and his allies immediately started trying to blame the Dems for this. How does any voter not see right through that horseshit?

Their only window to the world is Fox News. They’re living in an alternative reality.

The dems really fucked this up as usual. Who do they think is going to be the next speaker? Some middle of the road dude? No, it’s going to be some Q fuck face who will be 50x worse. They could have neutered Goetz and Q, but now they have empowered them…

McCarthy empowered Goetz. You're so transparent, dude.

There were 210 republicans who voted to save McCarthy. You think  they’ll support Jim Jordan or even trump? Lol no way. Idiots saying this hurts dems? Those 210 will have to reach across the aisle and get at least some dems to support someone. All dems voted to oust McCarthy because he refused to offer them anything. He even lied about the possible shutdown the day before blaming dems. I heard an interview from a dem saying how could they help him when he offered nothing and was completely dishonest just the night before? Gaetz is the one who’s fucked. He’s claiming it’s because McCarthy worked with dems to avoid the shutdown, now they’ll end up with a speaker who has enough dem support to actually govern. The backfire of all backfires.

The dems need to stay out of the way and let the republican party fix itself. Their goal is to get Republicans themselves to silence extremism in their party. The political pressure to select someone to maintain a functioning government is going to be far too high on Republicans for them to fuck around for too long before choosing another speaker.

You think the next guy is going to work with the dems? Lol, some of you are fucking delusional. It’s going to be a year of either nothing at best or destruction at worst.

You think it is the responsibility of the Democratic party to fix the Republican party. How about you stop calling other people delusional, k?

Which of Gaetz' preferred people is going to draw enough republican votes? It also ultimately doesn't matter, they can't get their maga shit past the senate and white house. This entire thing is to prevent helping Ukraine, because the right is beholden to fucking Russia. Their ancestors would be rolling in their graves to learn of their new support for Russian dictatorships.

Sometimes you just have to recognize some people will inherently blame the Dems. Don’t hold the majority in the House? Their fault.

Just now, Hugo Stiglitz said:

Republicans should install Pelosi again, blame the democrats for it, and then resurrect all their anti-Pelosi ads for election year. It won’t happen for several obvious reasons but it’s about the most strategic move they could make.

Hillary, IMO

I really don't think Ukraine/Russia is the angle here. We have a group of people that believe in absolutely nothing other than self-promotion. They have no core values, no political platform. They simply want attention and are willing to destroy America in return for TV time and social media likes.

Why not both?

Let's NOT forget the somehow un-investigated ties from Russia through the NRA to the Republican coffers.

Mostly this. They aren't strategic thinkers. They want to please Trump and their financial sponsors and maximize their own exposure to the nutbar right so they can keep on grifting after they leave congress.

Nobody has called you a fucking moron yet so I wanted to take an opportunity to do so.

You are a fucking moron.

Seconded.

What an astoundingly idiotic take, @Fastbreak

You are a fucking moron if you can't see how the GOP is uniformly ghoulish and fundamentally unfit to govern anything, yet it's the Dems fault that the Republicans would rather destroy all institutional frameworks in the federal government (DRAIN THE SWAMPPPPP!!!!) in the name of culture war nonsense that alienates and vilifies tens of millions of voters. These clowns can't even wipe their own asses, let alone clean up their own room, but Dems fucked up because McCarthy was the best of the bunch? Newsflash: there are no good Republicans, they are all the fucking same.

This shitshow is 100% on the rotten-to-the-core GOP.

None of them are going to work with the dems in the era of Trump. McCarthy was ran out on a rail for doing so. There is no compromise on the right any longer. It's the Trump win at all costs mentality. The Dems could've stayed out of it but why did they need to be magnanimous? What has that ever gained Democrats with the radical right? F'ing McCarthy was blaming Democrats the other day for the almost shutdown, that they voted to avert. He was always going to be the weakest speaker after the 15 votes and someone needing to be Trump's puppet. Now we get to watch them be unable to pick a new speaker. It's their shitshow. Why did the Democrats need to abstain?

Maybe it's entertaining and cathartic in a way, but we can't have a functioning democracy with 1 branch of government completely dysfunctional.

Everything Trump touches dies.

More like 1 and 1/2. Judicial and half of Congress. The senate may suck but it’s not this goat rodeo

And unfortunately this has to hurt to the point that their voters stop voting in domestic terrorists. I know that is a big ask of a willfully ignorant voter base, but this is what has to happen.
